At Wafaq – Muslim Matrimony Platform, we want members to have a respectful and safer experience while seeking a potential marriage partner.
While Wafaq provides tools to help members discover, communicate with, and learn about potential matrimonial partners, no online platform can guarantee the identity, intentions, background, or behavior of every person.
These Safety Guidelines provide practical recommendations to help you protect yourself while using Wafaq and when communicating or meeting with other members.
1. Protect Your Personal Information
Take care when sharing personal information with someone you have met through Wafaq.
Avoid sharing sensitive information too early, including:
- Your home address
- Workplace address
- Banking information
- Credit or debit card information
- Account passwords
- Verification codes
- Copies of identification documents
- Passport details
- Financial account information
- Other information that could be used to access your accounts or impersonate you
Take time to establish trust before sharing additional personal information.
2. Keep Your Account Secure
Use a strong and unique password for your Wafaq account.
You should:
- Never share your password with another member
- Never send anyone your verification code
- Avoid using the same password across multiple services
- Log out when using a shared or public device
- Be cautious of suspicious links
- Contact Wafaq if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
Wafaq Support should never need your password to assist you.
3. Be Careful With Money Requests
Be particularly cautious if someone you meet through Wafaq asks you for money.
Warning signs may include requests for money relating to:
- Emergencies
- Medical expenses
- Travel costs
- Visa expenses
- Family problems
- Investments
- Cryptocurrency
- Business opportunities
- Loans
- Gifts or gift cards
- Money transfers
Someone may attempt to build emotional trust before requesting money.
Never provide banking credentials, passwords, card information, or verification codes to another member.
If a member makes a suspicious financial request, consider stopping communication and reporting the account.
4. Watch for Fake or Misleading Profiles
Not everyone online may be who they claim to be.
Be cautious if someone:
- Refuses reasonable forms of verification
- Provides inconsistent personal information
- Uses photographs that appear unrelated or suspicious
- Claims unusually serious feelings immediately
- Pressures you to leave Wafaq immediately
- Repeatedly avoids reasonable questions
- Requests money
- Asks for sensitive documents
- Provides contradictory information about their identity, age, marital status, location, or circumstances
If you believe a profile is fake or intentionally misleading, report it to Wafaq.
5. Verification Is Not a Guarantee
Wafaq may provide account, email, phone, document, or other verification features.
Verification can help improve platform integrity, but it does not guarantee:
- A person's character
- Their intentions
- Their marital status
- Their financial circumstances
- Their employment
- Their education
- Their background
- Their compatibility with you
- That every statement they make is accurate
Continue to exercise reasonable judgment even when communicating with a verified member.
6. Communicate Carefully
Take time to learn about another member before making important decisions.
Be cautious if someone:
- Pressures you to communicate outside Wafaq immediately
- Becomes threatening or controlling
- Repeatedly ignores your boundaries
- Pressures you to send photographs
- Requests intimate material
- Pressures you to make quick decisions about marriage
- Attempts to isolate you from family or trusted people
- Makes suspicious financial requests
You have the right to stop communicating with another member at any time.
7. Protect Your Photos and Private Content
Think carefully before sending private photographs, videos, documents, or other sensitive content.
Once something has been sent to another person, you may lose control over how it is stored, copied, or shared.
Never allow someone to pressure you into sending private or intimate material.
Threatening to publish someone's private information or images is prohibited on Wafaq and may also violate applicable law.
8. Respect Boundaries
Consent and personal boundaries must be respected.
If someone tells you that they do not want to continue communicating:
- Respect their decision
- Stop unwanted communication
- Do not create another account to contact them
- Do not attempt to contact them through other Wafaq members
- Do not threaten or harass them
You are also entitled to end a conversation whenever you feel uncomfortable.
9. Consider Family or Trusted-Person Involvement
For members who prefer it, involving family, a guardian, or another trusted person may provide additional support during the matrimonial process.
You may consider informing someone you trust about:
- A person you are communicating with
- Plans to meet someone
- Significant developments in a potential relationship
- Concerns or suspicious behavior
Family or trusted-person involvement is a personal choice and does not replace your own judgment or safety precautions.
10. Meeting Someone in Person
If you decide to meet another Wafaq member in person, take reasonable safety precautions.
For an initial meeting, consider:
- Meeting in a public and populated place
- Meeting during a reasonable time of day
- Telling a trusted person where you are going
- Sharing your plans with someone you trust
- Arranging your own transportation
- Keeping your phone available
- Avoiding isolated locations
- Keeping control of your personal belongings
- Leaving if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable
Do not allow another person to pressure you into meeting somewhere you consider unsafe.
11. Travel Safety
Take additional precautions if meeting another member requires travel.
Before travelling:
- Verify important information independently where appropriate
- Tell someone you trust about your plans
- Keep control of your passport and identification
- Keep access to your own money
- Arrange transportation and accommodation carefully
- Avoid giving another person control over your travel documents
- Maintain a way to leave independently if necessary
Be especially cautious about requests to send money for another person's travel, visa, or accommodation expenses.
12. Marriage and Important Decisions
Wafaq helps facilitate introductions. It does not conduct background investigations into every member and cannot guarantee another person's claims.
Before making significant decisions, you may wish to independently verify information important to you.
Depending on your circumstances, this may include information concerning:
- Identity
- Age
- Marital status
- Family circumstances
- Education
- Employment
- Financial circumstances
- Location
- Other information relevant to marriage
Members are responsible for making their own matrimonial decisions.
13. Never Share Security Codes
Never give another person:
- Email verification codes
- SMS verification codes
- One-time passwords
- Authentication codes
- Password-reset links or codes
- Banking authorization codes
Someone requesting such information may be attempting to access your account or financial information.
14. Suspicious Links and Phishing
Be cautious when another member sends you an unfamiliar website or link.
A malicious link may attempt to:
- Steal your password
- Collect financial information
- Install malicious software
- Obtain verification codes
- Impersonate Wafaq or another service
If a message claims to be from Wafaq but appears suspicious, do not provide account credentials through the message.
15. Blocking Another Member
If another member makes you uncomfortable or you no longer wish to communicate, use Wafaq's Block feature where available.
Blocking can help prevent further interaction through available Wafaq functionality.
If someone attempts to circumvent a block by creating another account, report the account.
16. Reporting Suspicious or Harmful Behavior
Please report behavior that may violate Wafaq's Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.
Examples include:
- Fake profiles
- Scams
- Requests for money connected to suspected fraud
- Harassment
- Threats
- Blackmail
- Impersonation
- Unwanted sexual content

17. Immediate Danger
If you believe that you or another person is in immediate physical danger, contact the appropriate local emergency services or law-enforcement authorities.
Wafaq Support is not an emergency-response service and should not be used as a substitute for emergency assistance.
18. Underage Users
Wafaq is intended only for people aged 18 or older.
If you believe a member is under 18, please report the account.
Do not continue matrimonial or romantic communication with someone you believe may be underage.
19. Harassment, Threats, and Blackmail
Do not tolerate threats, harassment, extortion, or blackmail.
If someone threatens to:
- Harm you
- Reveal your personal information
- Publish private photographs
- Contact your family or employer maliciously
- Demand money in exchange for silence
consider ending communication, preserving relevant evidence where safe and lawful, blocking the account, and reporting the behavior.
Depending on the seriousness of the situation, you may also wish to contact appropriate local authorities.
20. Wafaq's Role
